Youth life skills classes taught at New Hope
All the skills youth and young adults need for employment will be discussed at the Survival Skills Summit Sunday at New Hope Baptist Church.
The summit, which starts at 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., is free and limited to 25 registrants ages 14-24 in Rockdale and the surrounding areas.
Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
The summit, sponsored by East Side Tutoring of Rock-dale and Lisa’s Hope Chest, will tackle self-help issues and give employment advice.
The subjects discussed will be: respecting self and others, planning and reaching goals, communicating with others, understanding legal rights and responsibilities, getting ready for employment, keeping a job and money management.

Rising Star to honor pastor this weekend
A fish fry and guest minister will be part of the festivities slated this weekend to honor the Rev. Royal L. and his wife, Margret Johnson at Rising Star Baptist Church, 1055 Texas St.
On Saturday, a family and friends fish fry is set for 7 p.m., in the church fellowship hall.
Sunday at the 11 a.m. service guest minister Ricky Johnson will speak and Pastor Kevin Love of the Living Faith Community Church in San Antonio will join the Rising congregation for a 3 p.m. service.
Methodist Men chili supper set for Feb. 28
The United Methodist Men will be hosting their annual Chili Supper 5-7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 28 in the St. John’s Fellowship Hall.
Tickets are $9.00 and desserts will be sold by the youth ministry to raise funds for summer camp.
Grief Share program continues this month
“GriefShare,” continues Mondays through April 8 at Meadowbrook Baptist Church.
The group meets 6-8 p.m. at the church, 1401 Colorado, just south of Rockdale High School. Those interested may register at www.grief-share.org.
Women’s World Day of Prayer is March 1
The international ecumenical Christian laywomen’s World Day of Prayer will be hosted by the First Presbyterian Church Friday, March 1.
The church will hold a prayer at 11 a.m. in service of this year’s core theme Come-Everything is Ready based on Luke 14:15-24 at 1600 Alcoa, followed by a light lunch in the Fellowship Hall.

Christian music concert slated for March 8th
A Christian concert is set for 7 p.m. Friday, March 8, at Rockdale Christian Church.
