A benefit motorcycle run and auction is being organized for Gause resident and Milano graduate Dendy Brown for Saturday at Nat’s in Milano.

In September 2018, Dendy was critically injured in an auto accident on the job and required multiple surgeries and transfusions as part of his medical treatment. He currently has to travel to Temple three times a week for wound care of his injuries.

The fundraiser will include a motorcycle ride that starts at 11 a.m., with trikes, cars and trucks also welcomed. Ride fees of $20 per rider or $25 with a passenger. Barbecue plates will be sold starting at 11:30 a.m. for $10 per plate. A live auction starts at 4:30 p.m. after the 50/50 drawing and the Southern Groove Band will start up at 6 p.m.

FIFTH SUNDAY—Liberty Community Church will hold Fifth Sunday services starting at 9 a.m. March 31, according to spokesperson Kathy Avery.

Pastor Loren Johnson will give the sermon and there will be a brunch following the service. Everyone is welcome and bring your favorite breakfast or lunch dish, Avery said.

AG BOOSTERS—The newly-established Milano/Gause Ag Boosters is holding a fundraiser with the prize being a processed pig. Tickets are $5 each or six for $20. Drawing will be held March

30. Winner need not be present to win. Processing cost is included and the winner chooses cuts. Processing of pig will be May 22 at Westphalia Meat.

SPRING GARAGE SALE— Donations are needed for the Milano VFD Ladies Auxiliary spring garage sale. The sale is set for April 4-6 at the MVFD fire station. The building will be open all this week and next for donation drop offs. For assistance getting your donations to the fire department building, or if you need items picked up, please contact Thurla Hubert at 512-455-3635.

PROJECT GRADUATION— Milano Project Graduation will hold a chicken dinner fundraiser on April 7 at the KC Hall in Rock-dale. Plates will be $10 each and include chicken half, green beans, German noodles, dessert and tea.

In addition to the dinner, there will be a silent auction on site. If you live or work within a 20-mile radius and have at least an order of five plates in your area, the group will deliver. Place your order for delivery by sending a text with your name, order, and deliver address to 979-436-4123.

ONE-ACT PLAY—The Milano High School One-Act Play group advanced from bi-district contest on Monday. The event was held at the Yoe High School Performing Arts Center in Cameron. The company did scenes from “Flowers for Algernon” in the competition.

Christopher Strange was named to the all-star cast. Devonte Jones, Malinda Storey, and Jeremyah Tafao earned honorable mention all-star cast awards.

The company will compete at area contest on Tuesday, April 2, at Pflugerville Hendrickson High School.

PARENTS CLUB—The Milano Parents Club is hosting a “bottle décor party” on April 11 at the Rockdale Country Club. Time is 6 to 8 p.m. and cost is $30 per person. You must reserve your spot.
