CAMERON—The Texas Master Naturalist El Camino Real Chapter awarded certifi cates to their new 2018 members recently near Cameron.

Trainees had attended 40 hours of classroom training and fi eld trips to learn about Texas natural resources and areas.

Among topics were water ecology, entomology, ichthyology, ornithology, archeology and climatology taught by experts.

Members Catherine Johnson and Larry Kocian were awarded an offi cial name badge and dragon-fly pin for having achieved Certifi ed Texas Master Naturalist status.

They had completed an additional eight hours of advanced training and performed 40 hours of volunteer time while taking their initial training.

Other class members are still in the process of completing requirements.
