Rockdale got an instant tradition Saturday when the first Fall Music Festival drew hundreds of people for a day and night of fun activities at several downtown venues.
From the Halloween-themed Kay Theatre Run just after daybreak to the final strains of a night street dance, the Fest showed off the downtown area in a variety of events.
There was a chili cookoff, Rock-dale’s first-ever dog races, food and craft booths, washer tourney, kiddie train rides, a mini-carnival, auto and camper displays and even a couple of cooling rain showers arrived during the late afternoon.
The new Fall Music Fest was a joint effort of many Rockdale entities including the Rockdale Downtown Association, Rockdale Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center, Rock-dale PAWS (Pet Adoption Welfare Services, Kay Theatre Foundation, Rock-dale ISD P-TO and the International & Great Northern Depot-Museum.
