A free movie featuring the world famous Lippanzer Horses/Spanish Riding School will follow a silent auction March 23 to benefit an Austin church which wants to establish a nature center in Rockdale.

Spokesperson Barbara Malone said the American Fellowship Church will host the silent auction from 1 to 3 p.m. followed by the movie from 3 to 5 at the Hunter’s Chase Senior complex, 1501 East Belton.

She said many members have donated many high-end luxury items (Chanel, Coach, Neiman Marcus and others) for the silent auction.

Malone said all proceeds go directly to an exclusive account opened for the Central Texas Education and Nature Center at Rockdale Federal Credit Union.

GOAL—Malone said the church’s’ long-term goal is to acquire a substantial parcel of land in Milam County in order to establish a Central Texas Nature Center with both green houses (for indoor organic produce) an outdoor organic produce and later to establish an equestrian facility.

“The Central Texas Nature Center would provide seminars and workshops for all ages with the goal of teaching high-value courses such as land and wildlife management, organic farming, equestrian skills and training,” he said.

“Benefits to the Milam County community would be multi-level in that it would provide education, organic produce, equestrian education and pleasure/trail rides; as well as enhance the overall economy and quality of life for people in the community,” she said.

Staff would be all volunteer.

“Our plan is to do this with full transparency to the Milam County community and in cost-effective, well-managed phases,” Malone said.
