Work by Rockdale-area artist Melton Guthrie has been on display in a couple of Central Texas venues this fall. His painting of the late Cliff Dungan, a Reporter employee, titled “Bad Medicine,” was on display at the Georgetown Art Center as part of the 2019 Art Hop, a juried art show. “Bad Medicine” made the show. Another Guthrie work, “Sleepers” is on display at the Round Rock Campus of Texas State University. The painting title is derived from the industry name for crossties used in the building of railroads and is a commentary on the implications of the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad. That show runs through Dec. 6. The show is on the third and fourth floors of the Avery Building, Texas State University, Round Rock Campus, University Blvd, Round Rock, TX, one block West of Grimes and Chandler Road.
