On Saturday, April 2, Gertharine Green turned 104 years young. Affectionately known as “Big Mama” to all, she was feted with a party and drive by parade at 1 p.m. in front of her home on Third Street. She waved to each car as they passed receiving cards, gifts, balloons and lots of love from the 75 cars in the parade.
Mayor John King read a proclamation saying that April 2 will now be known as Gertharine Green Day in Rockdale.
She was also interviewed by Charlie McGregor for KRXT.
