Giant hunt draws Good Friday crowd to park
Body

A crowd of mostly families, estimated well into the hundreds, came to Fair Park on Good Friday for the annual Easter Egg Hunt, sponsored by the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center.

The Easter Bunny was on hand, as were members of the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department, Chamber of Commerce directors and auxiliary members.

There were free hot dogs provided by Renaissance Villa and drinks by Kindred Hospice.

Children enjoyed face painting and stick-on “tattoos” prior to the main event.

Chamber volunteers had placed 3,000 plastic, goodie-containing “eggs” on the Fair Park grounds, stretching from the park’s main gate almost to the barbecue pits.

Children were directed to age-specific areas to begin the hunt and then the countdown began.

“It took us an hour and a half to put out those eggs,” one volunteer laughed. “And I think the kids picked them up in about 30 seconds.”

Appreciation was expressed to all volunteers who participated.
