These are the six “life members” of Caldwell’s Creative memories Quilt Guild, a group which has members from Rockdale, Milano, Thorndale and other towns and communities. From left, JoAnn Worthington, already a life member, was joined last month by Gladys Akers, Mary Ausley, Lynne Whited, Ditsey Meister and Martha Wolf. To become a life member, a quilter must be at least 80, a member of the group for at least five years and made a significant contribution to the guild. Among numerous other accomplishments in 2018, the guild donated nearly 100 lap quilts to Hospice Brazos Valley, made donations to a local food pantry, displayed over 110 quilts in their annual show and held a two-day quilt camp. Quilters interested in joining, “men and women, young and old,” according to spokesperson Pam Unnasch, “are welcome to attend meetings at 9 a.m. each fourth Wednesday at Caldwell First United Methodist, 306 West Fox.
