Several Meadowbrook Baptist Church members recently returned from a mission trip to Chernivsti, Ukraine.
Pastor Stephen Ammons, Irby McWilliams, Terry Dennis, Dick Boundy and Ruth Noack, along with teams from Canada and Arkansas, spent 12 days in Ukraine working with EWay Christian English School.
This school teaches the English language using the Bible.
During the day the team visited nursing homes and schools so attendees could practice their English.
Students had an opportunity to talk in English to native speakers.
At the nursing homes, the team met with the elderly there and heard stories of life during World War II.
The team participated in street evangelism. As team members spoke English, people would come up and want to speak.
In the evenings, the team taught English classes, ranging from beginner to advanced, using stories from the Bible, focusing on the fruit of the spirit, and teaching new English words to the students.
These stories also allowed the team to share the gospel with their class every night.
Team members Dennis and Boundy shared their testimony in front of all the students. Each teacher shared their testimony with their own classes.
These classes were the main focus of the trip to Ukraine. Each night there were about 150 students that attended the classes.
These students’ ages ranged from teenagers to senior adults.
The people of Ukraine were amazing, caring and wonderful. The Team from Meadowbrook got to know several of the Ukrainian people and developed deep friendships with each person they met.
In all, God showed us each many different things. Above all, He showed the team that sharing your faith spans the globe. You don’t need the latest and greatest tool, all you need is to open your mouth and speak the gospel.
God did amazing things for us on this trip, and He used this team in mighty ways.
On the trip home God continued to teach us. Our flight was delayed for five hours in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, due to a mechanical issue on one of the plane’s engines. Yet the team saw God working and blessing us with a nights rest in New York so our last leg of travel home would not be so difficult.
God worked it all out for us. So we give Him all the glory.
The team would like to thank everyone who prayed for us on this journey and we look forward to returning again one day, to continue the amazing work.
