Center meeting Sept. 25
The Minerva Community Center annual meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, in the Center.
“If you are a part of the Minerva community, or have ties to it, please attend,” said Deborah Dean, spokesperson. “In addition to electing a new trustee, we will discuss repairs/maintenance, plans for the annual homecoming, building rental and other new business.”

set Sunday, October 7
The 58th annual Minerva Homecoming and Community Gathering will be held at noon Sunday, Oct. 7 at the Minerva Community Center, 378 CR 232 Loop.
“Bring your family and friends to enjoy a covered dish lunch while visiting with friends, family and neighbors,” said Deborah Dean, spokesperson. “Bring photos and memories to share.”
A brief Minerva-Midway Cemetery meeting will be held.

Free Thanksgiving meal set Nov. 10 at Thorndale
THORNDALE—A free Community Thanksgiving Meal will be served from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, at Thorn-dale Fireman’s Hall.

Sunday washer tourneys run through September
Washer tournaments benefiting the American Cancer Society are held at 5 p.m. each second and fourth Sunday at the Apache Pass Ice House. Tourneys will be held through September. Registration is at 4 p.m., $20 per team, double elimination. Prizes go to top three teams.
T-SHIRTS—Orders for gray or black T-shirts benefiting the ACS are being taken. Prices: $15 (short sleeve, District brand) and $20 (long-sleeve, Port & Company Performance brand). Sizes are small to 6XL. FMI: Kim Jeter, 512-760-7194.
Genealogical Society
slates Tuesday session
The Milam County Genealogical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, in the fellowship hall of First Presbyterian Church, 1600 Alcoa, Rockdale.
The new handicap access entrance to the church is adjacent to the Palmer Street entrance to the parking lot.
Jack Brooks is in charge of the program.
Members with surnames beginning with A through O will be in charge of refreshments. Ice, drinks and paper goods will be provided.

Honey bees ‘all the buzz’ in October 5th program
The El Camino Real chapter of Texas Master Naturalists will present “Learn About Honey Bees,” from 9 a.m. to 12-noon Friday, Oct. 5, in The Community Room, 109 N. Main.
The event is free and open to the public.
Schedule is as follows:
• 9 a.m.—Refreshments, meet local beekeeper.
• 10 a.m.—Keynote speaker Mary Reed, Texas A&M University.
• 11 a.m.—Questions and answers with bee experts. Learn about beekeeping operations, bee removal, killer bees, more.
Hanover community’s
annual picnic Sunday
The 65th Hanover Community Homecoming will be held Sunday.
There will be fellowship before, during and after the 12-noon covered-dish meal.
Location is the intersection of FM 2095 and FM 3242, centrally located between Cameron, Milano and Gause.
Anyone with any interest or connection with the Hanover community is invited and encouraged to attend. There is sure to be plenty of food.—Mary Wysong, spokesperson.
