Minerva homecoming scheduled for Sunday

The 58th annual Minerva Homecoming and Community Gathering will be held at noon Sunday at the Minerva Community Center, 378 CR 232 Loop.

“Bring your family and friends to enjoy a covered dish lunch while visiting with friends, family and neighbors,” said Deborah Dean, spokesperson. “Bring photos and memories to share.”

A brief Minerva-Midway Cemetery meeting will be held.

MEETING—Plans for the homecoming were finalized Sept. 25 in a business meeting which included reports on the center’s new roof, new porch and water lie repairs.

The current Minerva Community Center Board includes Ernie Glenn, Wallace Moody and Karen Glenn with Deborah Dean as secretary-treasurer.

Sharp Cemetery Inc. annual meeting Oct. 13

SHARP—The annual Sharp Cemetery Inc. meeting will be held Oct. 13 at the Sharp Presbyterian Annex.

Families and friends of anyone buried in the cemetery are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Free Thanksgiving meal set Nov. 10 at Thorndale

THORNDALE—A free Community Thanksgiving Meal will be served from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, at Thorn-dale Fireman’s Hall.

Honey bees ‘all the buzz’ in Friday presentation

The El Camino Real chapter of Texas Master Naturalists will present “Learn About Honey Bees,” from 9 a.m. to 12-noon Friday in The Community Room, 109 North Main.

The event is free and open to the public.

Schedule is as follows:

• 9 a.m.—Refreshments, meet local beekeeper.

• 10 a.m.—Keynote speaker Mary Reed, Texas A&M University.

• 11 a.m.—Questions and answers with bee experts. Learn about beekeeping operations, bee removal, killer bees, more.

The Milam County Historical Commission will meet at 10 a.m. Monday in the Liberty Community Church.

Milano VFD Auxiliary slates fall garage sale

MILANO—The Fall Garage Sale of the Milano Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will be held Thursday through Saturday as follows:

Master Gardeners plan fall rose sale Oct. 13th

This year’s Little River Basin Master Gardeners Association (LRBMGA) Fall Rose sale is set for Saturday, Oct. 13.

Roses will be sold at two locations, the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the Downtown Cameron at “Steaktober” Fest from 10 a.m to 7 p.m.

Both locations will have the same roses in a variety of colors; Belinda Dream, Climbing Pinkie, South Africa, Living Easy, Hot Cocoa, Cinco de Mayo, Climbing Don Juan, Plum Perfect, Cadenza, and F. J. Lindheimer to name a few.

The roses sell below market value for $18 and no tax since the LRBMGA is a nonprofit association under the auspices of the AgriLife Extension Service.—Jennifer Lazarow, marketing committee
