Legion’s gun range will be open to hunters for sighting-in Oct. 25-27
Deer season in almost here.
Rockdale American Legion Post 358’s Gun Range will be open to the public from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 25, 26 and 27, to sight in weapons before hunting season.
“Our Range can accommodate long and short guns,” said Post Commander Jim McKimmey. “Cost is $10. Targets will be available for purchase. Bring your own ammo.”

Milano Ex-Students set beef stew supper Nov. 9
MILANO— A beef stew supper sponsored by Milano Alumni/ Exes Association is set for 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 9 in the Milano Elementary Cafeteria located at the north end of the football field.
Menu is beef stew, cornbread, tea/coffee and dessert. Prices: Ages 3 to 11, $4; ages 12 and up, $7.
Nov. 9 is Senior Night. All proceeds from this fundraiser will be used to help fund scholarships for graduating Milano High School seniors in the Class of 2019.

Historical Society chili dinner Nov. 10 at depot
The Rockdale Historical Society’s annual chili dinner is set for Saturday, Nov. 10 at the I&GN Historical Depot.
Hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. or until sold out.
Desserts will be available and there will be a silent auction during the meal.
Genealogy lock-in set for Friday at library
Genealogy Lock-in at Lucy Hill Patterson Library, is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday.
“Everyone is encouraged to attend. You do not have to be a member of Milam County Genealogical Society to attend this free event,” Linda Whorton, spokesperson, said.
The Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, in the fellowship hall of First Presbyterian Church, 1600 Alcoa.
The new handicap access entrance to the church is adjacent to the Palmer Street parking lot entrance.
Linda Whorton is in charge of the program.
Members with surnames beginning with P through Z will be in charge of refreshments. Ice, drinks and paper goods will be provided. All members are encouraged to attend. “Visitors are always welcome,” she said.
Music Club starts new dessert fund raiser
The Matinee Musical Club has begun its dessert of the month fund raiser to benefit its annual scholarship.
Donations are $5 for one ticket or $10 for three and are available from any club member or at the city library.

Free Thanksgiving meal set Nov. 10 at Thorndale
THORNDALE—A free Community Thanksgiving Meal will be served from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10 at Thorn-dale Fireman’s Hall.

Rice Cemetery group hosting annual meeting
The Rice Cemetery Association/Foundation will host its 43rd annual meeting Saturday.
Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish and lawn chairs. The cemetery is located at County Road 241, off Texas 36.

American Legion sets garage sale for Nov. 3rd
American Legion Carlyle Post 358 will have its Annual Garage Sale Saturday, Nov. 3, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Post Home at 2534 FM 487.
Clothing, furniture, tools, and household items have been donated with many more items expected.
This year representatives from Child Protective Services, Rock-dale Christian Services, and Central Texas Food Bank will be there, and PAWS will hold a pet adoption event.
