Tiger ‘yard art,’ is part of sorority fund raiser

The “Tiger Yard Art” you’re seeing around town is a fund raiser for Alpha Tau Delta service sorority.

“For $20 you can pick where the Tiger is caged and ensure you don’t receive it back,” Brooksy Fisher, sorority spokesperson, said.

She said for $15 a participant can select where the Tiger is caged next, but you may get it back, she said.

“For $10 we will remove the Tiger from your yard,” Fisher said.

Money raised will go toward the organization’s annual scholarships.

Thursday Reading Club meets at city library

The Thursday Reading Club met at the library for its January meeting. Hostesses were the yearbook committee, Annette Stone, Linda Wilson and Wendie Upson. Coffee and cake were served.

President Geri Burnett led the business meeting and appointed next year’s yearbook committee. Mrs. Wilson and Mrs. Upson volunteered to serve again, with Wilson being chairman, and Denise Starnes and Barbara Nelson also volunteered to be part of the committee for planning the activities for 2019-2020.

The club received a thank you note from Child Protective Services for a holiday donation.

The program was presented by Lynn Young on “The DaVinci Code,” written by Dan Brown.

February’s meeting will take place at the Oakleaf Diner for lunch and the program will be a group discussion of “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll.—
