MVFD holds fundraiser for Whitmore Nov. 7th
The Milano Volunteer Fire Department will hold a benefit for Second Assistant Chief Robert Whitmore on Sunday, Nov. 7, at 11:30 a.m.
All proceeds will go towards his medical expenses and treatments.

AA meeting weekly at Crossroads Church
Rockdale Peace Seekers AA meetings are at Crossroads Bible Church, 811 Burleson St.
The meetings are scheduled on Tuesdays and Sundays at 7:30 p.m.
Landscaping classes to be held Friday
Earthkind Landscaping class sponsored by the Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday at the POSGCD office in Milano.

Milano VFD collecting items for garage sale
The Milano VFD Ladies Auxiliary is accepting donations for their fall garage sale.

Class of ’77 to hold homecoming gathering
The Class of 1977 is holding a homecoming get-together on Friday.
The class will meet before the football game at Rainbow Courts and then return after the game. There will be reserved seating in the stands Friday night.
Voice of Democracy student essays
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Voice of Democracy competition has begun and this year’s theme is “How can I become a good American?”
The competition is open to all junior high and high school students as well as private school and home-schooled students. The essays are both written and recorded as a three to five minute video.
Entry deadline is Sunday. The top prize is $5,000.

Milam County Girl Scouts acts of service
Girl Scouts of Central Texas (GSCTX) are celebrating their centennial, the 100th anniversary of the first Girl Scout troop formed in our area in 1921.
“As part of our centennial celebration, Milam County Girl Scouts have chosen to perform service in Milam County. We are looking to do 100 acts of service in our county. We are providing services for free. It can be for a church, organization, city, individual or group,” said Rachel Owens, Milam County Girl Scouts Service Unit Director.

Heavenly Treasures $5 bag days in November
Heavenly Treasures has a new special for November. On Nov. 2, 16 and 30 they will have bags for $5.
They will be closed Nov. 24, 25 and 26 for Thanksgiving.
