The Thorndale Town & Country Club met at the country home of Monica Leatherwood who served as a hostess with her mother Patsy Palm. Games of Thanksgiving Bingo were played with the winners receiving a miniature fall fabric covered pumpkin and a jar opener as prizes.
A short business meeting followed the recreation where the club sent a sympathy card, and missing you cards to members of the community in need of support. Various upcoming events were discussed and ways the club could support the community by participating in Thorndale Cares, the downtown Car Show and the Christmas Parade.
Election of officers resulted in the following officers for 2023: President Paula Johnson, Vice President Rosemary Lawrence, Secretary Darleen Tucker and Treasurer-Peggy Weise.
For their demonstration, Patsy and Monica shared a beautiful wall hanging of Niagara Falls with a hand-made frame by her husband David. The frame had an inset of wood from Patsy’s childhood room. The trip to Niagara Fall was a lifetime wish of Patsy’s and was especially meaningful as a 35th anniversary gift from her husband. She also showed collages of the trip to Niagara Falls and several collages of her grandchildren created on canvas by Monica.
The Town & Country Club meets once a month and is a service club that tries to support the community of Thorndale with various activities during the year. If anyone is interested in joining the club and helping with our service projects, you are invited to attend the next meeting. Please call Paula Johnson at 512-898-2863 or Darleen Tucker at 512-29-9089 for more information.
