The Pack Pals program provides a weekend supply of nutritious food for children when school lunch and breakfast is unavailable on a weekend or a school holiday. Each food bag contains two breakfasts, two lunches and two snacks.

Pack Pals provides food bags for weekend food for students in Rockdale, Thorndale, Milano and Gause Independent School Districts.

All food is nonperishable and provided to children free of charge. Pack Pals organization hopes that these resources will support the health, behavior and achievement of every student who participates.

The program is intended to help those children whose families find it difficult to have enough food for the entire month. The program is run completely by volunteers who help pack the food bags, and is funded through generous gifts from local churches, community businesses and volunteers.

If your business or organization would like to help, here is a handy reference of what Pack Pals is looking for:

Breakfast items include cereal bars, Pop Tarts and small boxes of cereal

Lunch items include “meal type” pop-top cans such as ravioli, soup, beans and franks, Spaghetti Os, Vienna sausages and tuna, macaroni and cheese.

Snack items include fruit snacks, pop-top cans of fruit, applesauce cups, raisins, Goldfish (individual packages), pretzels (individual packages), granola bars, sandwich crackers (peanut butter or cheese), bread sticks and cheese snack packs and pudding cups (non-refrigerated)

And cash donations are always welcome.
