Rockdale’s annual Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade drew hundreds of happy spectators Saturday night, capping off a day-long celebration of all things Christmas. It began early that morning in the Patterson Civic Center and ended after the parade with a thrilling concert by the Light of the World Choir and online voting for the parade’s most popular float. That was won by Milam County Crime Stoppers, which received a $250 cash prize, donated by parade sponsor Miller-Starnes Chevrolet-Buick. (Only non-profit organizations were eligible). In between there were activities at the I&GN Depot-Museum, with yet another opportunity to visit with Santa, and lots of booths and music at Wolf Park. Parade results were listed as follows by Chamber Office Staffer Denise Brock. Presidential Award— Milam County Crime Stoppers. Best Out-Of-Town— Milam County Sheriff’s Department. Best ATV—Mary Lou Loehr. Best Decorated Vehicle—Kindred Hospice. Best Decorated Overall—Billy Seaton. Best Santa’s Helper— Rockdale Youth Baseball. Best Religious—Murray Avenue Church of Christ. People’s Choice—Milam County Crime Stoppers (see page 8A).
