Over 350 persons enjoyed food and fellowship Christmas Day at Peace Lutheran Church.
The fifth annual “Terri’s Touch of Christmas Spirit Day Meal” was prepared and served to-go in the PLC Fellowship Hall.
It’s a project of Terri York Sandoval to provide a hot, Christmas meal to the elderly and shut-ins in the Rock-dale area.
Sandoval and Lin Perry prepared and donated the food.
It was served by local volunteers along with other volunteers from Houston, College Station and San Antonio.
“The Rockdale community came together to ensure a few extra smiles and hugs were handed out,” Rebecca Luckey, meal spokesperson, and volunteer, said.
Distribution began at 10:30 a.m. Christmas Day—with volunteers arriving earlier—and continued into the afternoon.
The event was a “pick up your plate” format with participants getting plates at the serving line then taking them home.
Organizers expressed thanks to volunteers who made the annual event a success, according to Luckey,
