Preacher and evangelist Rodney McGee will speak at the Forest Grove Christian Church’s six-day revival, which starts Sunday and lasts through Friday, Aug. 2.

“He came last year, and he was such a dynamic and motivational speaker that we asked him to come again this year,” said Mary Ross, church member and organizer of the event.

McGee has ties to Rock-dale. He is married to Rosemary Kyle of Rockdale and will be staying with Morris Kyle at Forest Grove, according to Ross.

The revival begins Sunday at Forest Grove Church Sunday service at 11 a.m. at 8902 South US 77, Rockdale and at 6 p.m. later in the day.

On Monday through Friday, the revival starts at 7 p.m. at the church. Along with McGee, there will be special musical performances by Rockdale church choirs and music from the county.

McGee is well-known as the father of Stephen McGee, who was one of the top quarterback prospects in the country when he signed with Texas A&M out of Burnet High School in 2004. The Bulldogs reached state his junior and senior year. He was a multi-year starter for the Aggies and was drafted by the Cowboys out of college.

After a 21-year career teaching at Burnet High School and coaching the Bulldog’s basketball team, the elder McGee pastored Hill Country Fellowship Church from 2005 to 2016.
