The first Sunflower/Melodie Jones Memorial Scholarship Fund 5K run/walk and kids one-mile fun run/walk is set for Sept. 29 at Davidson Creek Park in Caldwell. The event is in honor of Melodie Jones who died in a car accident in 2017.
Registration is $30 for the 5K and $25 for the kids run. Online registration is at www.melodiesmeow.com.Same day registration is 7:30-8:15 a.m. The kids run will start at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K is scheduled for 9 a.m.
GARAGE SALE—
The Milano Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary’s fall garage sale is set for Oct. 4-6 at the fire station, 305 E. Ave. C. The group is now accepting donations and can be contacted for pick up. For more information, contact Thurla Hubert (512-45-3635) or Lois Love (512-455-7915).
BOX TOPS—Milano Elementary School is collecting Box Tops for Education again this school year. Those little coupons equal free money for our school and students. Let me know if you need me to swing by and pick them up, or you can send them to Milano Elementary School with your favorite student.
BIRTHDAY WISH—A special “Happy Birthday” wish to my dad, Claude Lagrone. He will turn 75 on Sept. 22. He does a lot for folks around this area, and although I may be a bit biased, he has one of the best vegetable gardens in the county. If you see him out and about on Saturday, be sure to give him a birthday hug.
