THORNDALE—Seventy-eight teams competed in th 29th annual Thorndale Volunteer Fire Department Barbecue Cookoff Friday and Saturday at City Park.
In the end, the overall winners didn’t have far to go to take the championship trophy home.
Biar Cookers, with head chef Gavin Biar won first overall (combined points).
Smoke This (Bubba Cepak) was second and Taylor’s Twisted L BBQ No. 2 (Cassie Leschber) was third.
The cookoff also featured dominoes, washers, a softball tourney and dances with Roger Creager and Texas Unlimited Band on Friday and Cory Morrow and Kolby Cooper on Saturday.
There were fireworks both nights, arts and crafts and the Thorndale VFD Auxiliary held its annual turkey and dressing sale.
