Thursday was the first day of school in he 2019-2020 term in the Rockdale ISD and for the first time in several years the district recorded a gain in first-day attendance. A total of 1,468 came to classes in the district’s four campuses, up three from 1,465 the first day of 2018-19. Leading the way was Rockdale High School with 443 students, compared to 425 last year. Rockdale Elementary (above) was at 369, up five from last year and the junior-high logged 352, up three. Rockdale Intermediate counted 327, down 23 from the 2018-19 first-day attendance of 304.
