These Tigers showed up and showed off Thursday night against the visiting Lexington Eagles. The Tigers won the game with a final score, Rockdale 38, Eagles 24.
Tiger Juan Sa lcedo picked up a loose ball on the Eagles’ opening drive to set the pace of the game. Tiger quarterback Greyson Williams would then find receiver Ayedan Pena in the end zone for a touchdown making the score Rockdale 6, Lexington 0.
Lexington came back to tie the score in the first quarter and then scored another touchdown early in the second. Tiger Josiah Smith responded by returning the kick off for a touchdown.
This scor ing f renz y did not stop. The Eagles scored yet another touchdown late in the first half of the game but the Tigers came back again just before the half ended and scored on a 48-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Williams to receiver Brody Willard. Tiger Eduardo Rivera converted the twopoint attempt supplying the Tigers with a halftime lead, 20-18.
Lexington would score late in the third quarter but once again Rockdale answered back by Tiger Kendrick Henderson scor-ing with a 70 yard kick off return. This made the score Rockdale 26, Lexington 24.
Tiger Marcus Avila intercepted a pass late in the third quarter giving the Tigers perfect field position as they entered the last quarter of this roller coaster of a football game.
Tiger Brody Willard ran the ball into the end zone for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter from five yards out giving Rockdale an extended lead of 32 to Lexington’s 24.
The Rockdale defense, led by James Bartsch intercepted an Eagle pass with nine minutes left in the game. Tiger quarterback Greyson Williams then threw for his third touchdown finding receiver Brody Willard—who had an outstanding game—making the final score Rockdale 38, Lexington 24.
The junior varsity Tigers are now 1-2 on the year.
