The 2019 Rockdale Fair was special to a lot of people, none more than 91-year-old Claude Spence. One of two original Rockdale Fair Association directors from 1976—the other is his brother Rod—Spence joined his daughter Nora Light and great granddaughter Baylee Wall in exhibiting grand champion entries in the home economics division (L). Spence donated one of his locally famous bird houses—he has made 383—for the Saturday auction. It was purchased for $4,000 by Rockdale resident Morris and Tracy Kyle.
