The Rockdale Chamber of Commerce’s first Whistle Stop Wine Tour will provide a day and evening of sipping, singing, shopping and sights Saturday, Nov. 23.
The holiday-themed gala concludes with music at the Wolf Park pavilion with headliner Austin Georgio, a 2018 contestant on NBC’s “The Voice” capping off the big day.
Whistle Stop activities will run from 1 to 10 p.m. and will include shuttles from the downtown park to seven different venues where there will be “winery tours.”
Here’s how it works. The only thing you’ll need tickets for is the wine tasting tour, which includes appetizers. Everything else is free including the shuttles.
Wine tasting tickets are $30 each, including a wineglass, and can be purchased on line at www.rockdalechamber.com, or at the I&GN Depot on Nov. 23.
Ticket holders are also entered for a prize drawing. They must return tickets to Wolf Park to be eligible.
Between 1 and 5 p.m. the continuous shuttles will stop at the depot, Buckin’ Wild Designs, Twisted Scissors & Boutique, Antique Queens, Tisket A Tasket, Charming Blossoms & Boutique, Rainbow Courts Motel and Wolf Park.
Between 5 and 10 p.m. the shuttles will take riders to Bridge Park, which will be lit up for the holidays, and to their Rockdale hotels.
At 4 p.m. there’s food trucks and beer at Wolf Park and the Communities in Concert Band will perform at 5 p.m.
That’s followed by the traditional Rockdale Christmas Tree Lighting at 6 p.m. and the prize drawing, also at Wolf Park.
Wineries and vendors at Wolf Park will be open until 8 p.m.
Local musicians Treble Soul will perform at 6:30, followed by Austin Giorgio at 8:30.
Wineries already signed up to participate are Blue Duck, Cast Iron, Colorado River, Fatsolush, Kissing Tree, Rising Sun and Rohan.
Sponsors for the event are Aaron’s, Bitmain, Brett’s Backyard Barbecue, KSA Engineering, Perry & Perry Builders, Texas Electric, Mr. Liquor, Rock-dale Signs, and Engie.
Those not staying in hotels are asked to arrange for a safe ride home.
