LEXINGTON—Funeral services for Robert Lee Ahrendt, 96, of Lexington were held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 18, 2026, at Lexington United Methodist Church in L e x i ng ton, with Rev. Chris Waks of f ic iat ing. Burial followed in the Lexington Mr. Ahrendt
Cemetery.
Robert passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on May 10.
He was born July 20, 1929, in Lexington.
Robert graduated from Lexington High School in 1946.
He joined the United States Air Force in 1947, stationed in San Antonio. After serving for three years, he returned to Lexington and worked at Brinkman Chevrolet before going to work for Alcoa in 1952, retiring after 40 years.
Robert married Margaret Jane (Janie) Tucker Ahrendt on June 29, 1952, at Lexington United Methodist Church in Lexington.
Robert was an active member of the Lexington community, having served in the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department, Lexington Lions Club, on the Lexington ISD Board of Trustees, Lexington City Council and served tirelessly in many capacities at Lexington United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Minnie Seifert Ahrendt; stepmother Sophie Seifert Ahrendt; son Robert Neil Ahrendt; three brothers, Frank Ahrendt, Fred Ahrendt and Erle Ahrendt; and a grandson, Ryan Ahrendt.
He is survived by his wife Margaret Jane (Janie) Tucker Ahrendt of Lexington; three children, Belinda Robertson, Jan Lynn, Kevin Ahrendt and wife Francina, all of Lexington; a daughter- in-law, Pat Ahrendt of Somerville; four grandchildren, Crystalyn Ahrendt Keating and husband Steven of Lake Oswego, Oregon, Cory Robertson and wife Lauren of Lexington, Chad Robertson and wife Laura of Waldeck, Chase Ahrendt and wife Heather of Lexington; 12 great-grandchildren, Courtney Robertson and fiancé Nick Baggerly of Rockdale, Tyler Robertson of Waller, Coby Robertson of Rockdale, Sophia Keating of College Station, Cash Robertson of Waldeck, Maiken Ahrendt of Lexington, Lylah Robertson of Waldeck, Lexa Robertson of Lexington, Carter Robertson of Lexington, Cooper Ahrendt of Lexington, Libby Robertson of Waldeck, Hunter Ahrendt of Lexington; two great-great-grandchildren, Mila and Elliot Baggerly of Rockdale; two sisters, Viola Scruggs of Shiloh and Dorothy Moore of Killeen; and a sister-in-law Bessie Ahrendt of Stafford; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Serving as pallbearers were Kevin Ahrendt, Cory Robertson, Chad Robertson, Chase Ahrendt, Coby Robertson and Cash Robertson.
Robert lived a life filled with laughter, generosity, kindness and love for family and friends. He will be missed by many.
Memorials may be made to the Lexington United Methodist Church Building Fund or to the Charity of one’s choice.
