The Thorndale Lady Bulldogs took down Holland 72-25 on Friday, revitalizing their quality of play after what head coach Bradley Dickerson described was a rough couple of games.
“Things have been going well through the middle of district,” Dickerson said. “We had a three-game shooting slump where we just couldn’t make a shot. But we shot the ball really well on Friday.”
Thorndale got off to a hot start against the Lady Hornets, leading 42-18 at the end of the first half. The Lady Bulldog’s run continued through the third quarter, as their defense held Holland to two points.
Elise Biar led Thorndale with 18 points, Savanna Taylor scored 15 and Madi Smith had 14.
Last Tuesday, the Lady Bulldogs defeated rival Thrall on the road 37-30. Biar and Taylor led THS with seven points each. Smith had six and Ashley Pesl five.
Thorndale played Granger on Tuesday and will face Mumford at home on Friday. The Lady Bulldogs are 9-0 in District 25-2A.
THORNDALE — The Bulldogs defeated Holland 82-39 on Friday, remaining undefeated in District 25-2A with a record of 8-0.
“We have been playing really well the past the few weeks,” said John Kovar, THS boy’s head basketball coach. “We’ve shot the ball great and our defense has been really great.”
Five Bulldogs scored in the double-digits in their game against the Hornets. Sam Reaves had 21 points, Kolby Neumeyer had 16, Chance Betak and Ty Kovar both had 12 and Evan Ivy had 10.
On Tuesday, THS defeated their rival Thrall on the road 93-46.
Reaves had 34, Neumeyer and Ivy had 12, Kovar had 11 and Jagger Rubio had eight.
The Bulldogs played Granger on Tuesday after press time and will play Mumford 7 p.m., Friday.
Thorndale is ranked 14th in the latest TABC poll. Fellow District 25-2A team Hearne is ranked 15th. The ‘Dawgs play the Eagles in Hearne, Friday, Feb. 8.
