100 YEARS AGO… The Empire Fuel Co., which owned lignite mines in Milam County and maintaining executive offices in Dallas, increased its capital from $1,000,000 to $5,000,000, according to a message received from Ada, H. Davidson of Dallas, now in New York.

Beautiful day for Big Mama’s 104th birthday

Saturday was a beautiful day and I enjoyed being outside in it taking photos at Gertharine Green’s 104th birthday parade. It is amazing what a big family “Big Mama” has. Here is some information about her that I got from Mayor John King’s proclamation making April 2 Gertharine Green Day.

Good use of the Rockdale hospital

Last week on the County Judge radio show, Karolyn Puccio, of the Rockdale Hospital District, announced that the former Rockdale Hospital and Clinic will be donated to the Rockdale Independent School District. The hospital and clinic closed in December 2018 when its owner filed for bankruptcy.
