As part of the Texas Department of Transportation’s Drive Sober. No Regrets. campaign for spring break, Milam County Sheriff’s Office and law enforcement officers across Texas will increase DWI patrols to identify and stop impaired drivers.

Dear editor, Rockdale Christian Services extends a heartfelt thank you to our community for their generosity in support of the “Brown House” food pantry. Even with our reduced operations, we were able to provide food to an average of 150 families (290 individuals) per month this past year.

One of the many great things Milam County provides is a Veterans Service Department. Veterans Services provides just about all things veteran to the almost 1,500 veterans in Milam County. Mr. Ken Janicek has been in charge of this department for almost 24 years and has done such a marvelous job!

100 YEARS AGO… The biggest deal yet recorded in the Rockdale oil field was finally closed when Dr. T.D. Roundtree leased to the Tidal Oil Company of Tulsa, OK, 260 acres off of his 535- acre farm, the consideration being $240 per acre, or a total of $62,400. W.E.
