I was invited to Springfield Baptist Church by Henry Miller to take some photos for the paper of the kids doing their Black History Month program, and I really had a good time. I saw lots of people I knew and the kids did a great job, but the music made me stay for the whole thing.

Just one week ago we were dealing with an historic freeze in Milam County. We experienced record cold temperatures of almost 300 hours below freezing. Obviously when the pipes began to thaw we all realized we had a lot of property damage.

Our house is in a small line of houses whose electricity is all connected. We suffer outages fairly regularly due to transformers blowing out and sometimes limbs falling since we are right up next to the woods. So naturally it happened during last week’s snowy weather.

Last Friday we learned that Milam County had been awarded the single largest grant in its history! The total grant amount is 4.7 million dollars and it will be used to renovate the former Little River hospital building in Cameron for county administrative purposes.

MVFD chili supper rescheduled for Saturday

After being postponed a week due to the icy weather, the Milano Volunteer Fire Department chili supper has been rescheduled. It will be drive-through only at the fire station. The annual fundraiser is set to start at 4:30 p.m.
