Hurricane Season: Why is Houston there?

EDITOR’S CORNER Whenever hurricane season swirls around I think of Houston. And whenever I think of Houston, the first thing I think of is “why did they put the nation’s fourth largest city in a swamp where water cannot drain?” Actually, that’s not true.

100 YEARS AGO.... A devastating fire swept through a block of businesses in Gause. Most heavily damaged was the J. R. Fraim Mercantile Store where the blaze started. Other businesses damaged included the Gause Guide newspaper and Godfrey Barber Shop. O. L.

MISD REPORT Last year, in an incredible football game, we snapped Bremond’s 49-game winning streak. Friday night, our football team snapped another impressive Bremond streak. Bremond had not lost a home football game in over four years.
