Goals in sentencing — part two

Two weeks ago, I started talking about what the goals are when sentencing a particular defendant. The first goal we talked about was punishment — punishing the specific defendant for the specific crime that was committed.

MILAM COUNTY JAIL LOG

Jail log lists all people charged with offenses through the county jail in Cameron. Charges may change during the process. Persons are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. • Robert Alan Jenkins, 60, Rockdale, assault causes bodily injury/family violence, released.

Rockdale PD reports two felony arrests, four traffic accidents

Rockdale Police Officers made two felony arrests during the past week including: • A 16-year-old juvenile from Milano was arrested for possession of a controlled substance (less than 1 gram) and possession of marijuana (less than two ounces).

Rockdale VFD Responded to: • Tractor Supply for a downed wire over a garbage truck on Jan. 22 at 11:03 a.m. • 855 Ackerman for a one vehicle accident with no injuries on Jan. 22 at 6:07 p.m. • West Cameron Avenue in front of The Ranch for a two-vehicle accident with minor injuries on Jan.

ORGANIZATIONS

Rockdale Rotary Club meets the first, third and fourth Tuesdays of each month at the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department from noon to 1 p.m. Lunch is provided. Rockdale Noon Lions Club also meets at RVFD on the first and third Wednesday of each month with lunch provided.

Milano prom set for Saturday in Calvert

Prom is this Saturday. It will be at a venue in Calvert. Pray the rain holds off. COUNTY ROADS— Thank you to the County Commissioners for quickly fixing some spots on our County Roads last week so the school buses could continue their routes. I am thankful for all the rain though.

Monday—Chicken Parmesan, garlic breadsticks, sweet peas, noodles, fruit cup, 2% milk. Tuesday—Stuffed bell peppers, roll, calico corn, Italian green beans, brownie, 2% milk. Wednesday—Meatballs, wheat bread, braised red cabbage, rice, cake, 2% milk.

It was a beautiful Monday morning, but it was still a little cool. And everyone who has allergies is suffering. I’m one of those, but I’m going to try to keep going. Our inside cats are having a good time chasing each other through the house. We got our invitation to our grandson’s wedding.
