Rockdale VFD Responded to: • Rockdale Estates and Rehabilitation for a fire alarm on Wednesday. • 2480 North FM 487 for a burn ban violation on Thursday. • CR 322 for a vehicle that hit a tree on Monday. Gause VFD Responded to: • US 79 east of Gause for a vehicle flipped on its side on Friday.

September is Family Mealtime Month

September is a special month for AgriLife Extension as we “Celebrate Family Mealtime.” We know everyone is busy with work and after school activities, plus technology always having us “plugged in,” often times we miss faceto- face connections with our family.

Drought, heat bring ants inside

As the drought and high temperatures have continued. Pests such as ants, cockroaches, crickets and more are increasingly seeking shelter indoors in order to find cooler temperatures and sources of water and food.

rphis Monday morning was a nice one. It will .1. not be long before winter will be here. Most people have things that have to be done no matter what the weather is. We are so lucky in Gause that most of what we have to do when we get older can be done without leaving town.

Pleasant Retreat chili supper set for Sept. 23 Pleasant Retreat Methodist Church will hold their annual chili supper on September 23 from at 5 p.m. with an auction beginning at 6:30 p.m. The church is located at 852 CR 458 near Thorndale.

On Friday morning, the first of two implosions at Sandow Lakes Ranch (SLR) brought down three smokestacks, several concrete silos and a large piece of metal hanging off the side of Unit 5 power generating unit.
