Legislative water speakers announced by POSGCD

Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District (POSGCD) announces more speakers related to legislative water issues at the Milam and Burleson Groundwater Summit held at the Caldwell Civic Center on Aug. 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The summit is open to the public and lunch will be provided.

Two dusty projects in Rockdale

PROGRESS—Two pictures on Monday show significant progress on two dusty projects. In the top photo, the TxDOT work on US 79 between Ackerman and Burleson began early Monday morning with traffic down to one lane with a pilot car leading the traffic through downtown safely.

Genealogical society set to meet July 25

Free backpacks at VFW July 29

VFW Auxiliary Post 6525 will hand out school supplies on July 29 from 9 a.m. to 12-noon at the post. Backpacks are for all grades pre-K through 12th.

Holdiness reunion to be held August 5-6 The Holdiness Family Reunion will take place Aug. 5-6. The reunion will be held at Flying N Ranch from 7 to 10 p.m. Aug. 5 and at Milano Senior Center from 1 to 5 p.m. Aug. 6.

Using fresh summer tomatoes

Kyle’s Kitchen We sure have been getting some good tomatoes lately and I’m sure you are too. Here are some recipes using fresh tomatoes. The first one came from my friend Jody Morris, and she said it was delicious. Jody said she added garlic and fresh lime juice to this recipe.

O.J. Thomas 58th reunion August 12 The O.J. Thomas Alumni Community Resource Center will hold their 58th annual homecoming on Saturday, Aug. 12, with a tailgate party from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a barbecue lunch at noon. A dance will be held in the cafeteria from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. featuring Joe Tex II.
