Four felony arrests made over past week, two accidents reported

Rockdale Police Officers made four felony arrests during the past week including: • Clement David Sr., 56, Rockdale, was arrested by Ofc. Paul Davis on Saturday for assault/family violence impeding breath/circulation. He was transported to the Milam County Jail by a Milam County Deputy.

Jail log lists all people charged with offenses through the county jail in Cameron. Charges may change during the process. Persons are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.   • Jean Pierre Gygi II, 35, Rockdale, possession of marijuana (less than 2 ounces), released.

FIRE CALLS

Responded to: • CR 322 for an accident along with the Milam County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday.   • 619 North Wilcox along with Oncor for power lines arcing on Thursday.   • Cameron and Main Streets for traffic control for a two-vehicle accident on Sunday.

Gause students visit Inner Space Cavern

Gause ISD first and second grades went on a field trip to Inner Space Cavern in Georgetown on Monday. A great learning experience for them. CLEAN-UP DAY— Gause Cemetery Association will have a clean-up day at the cemetery from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. March 18. Food and drinks will be provided.

Davilla Community Farmers and Flea Market

The Davilla Community Farmers and Flea Market will be held at the Davilla Community Center located at 20803 North FM 476 on March 11, April 8 and May 13 from 8a.m. to 2 p.m. Outside spots are $10 and inside spots are $20. Fod an drinks will be available to purchase during the market hours.

As Black History Month 2023 comes to a close, a celebration was held at Sumuel Park on Wednesday for Elissa Benford-Roberts’ storyboard project permanently on display showcasing early black businesses in Rockdale.
