HAPPY BIRTHDAY—Margie Clark celebrated her 100th birthday at Rockdale Estates & Rehabilitation on Friday. After ‘Happy Birthday’ was sung, guests enjoyed refreshments with lots of visiting going on.

NEW BOOKS FOR RISD—Rockdale Earth Day provided new books to Rockdale ISD schools as part of part of its mission to educate on things related to the environment.

City starts curbside recycling program

The City of Rockdale is going to do a trial run of curbside recycling with Brannon Industrial Group (BIG), the city’s current trash contractor. In order for this to happen the city needs at least 200 people to sign up for the twice per month service which is $12 per month.

‘Stash Your Trash’ set for March 25th The City of Rockdale’s annual spring Stash Your Trash event will be held on Saturday, March 25, from 8 a.m. to 12-noon at Fair Park. Containers will be available for free disposal of miscellaneous household items like old furniture or mattresses.

SUPERIOR STUDENTS

SUPERIOR STUDENTS—Rockdale Junior High Symphonic Band performed at the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluation last week in Bastrop. ‘Our students spent the past two months working on three pieces and sight-reading skills. There were two parts to this evaluation.

Baked goods silent auction Saturday

The Milam County Junior Livestock Show Baked Goods Silent Auction is set for Saturday at the Youth Exposition Barn from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. The 4-H and FFA youth work hard on baking amazing pies, cakes and cookies and would love the community’s support in purchasing their items.

National Nutrition Month and a healthy recipe all will love

Each March, as part of National Nutrition Month, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics encourages people to make informed food choices and develop sound eating and physical activity habits that you can follow throughout the year and throughout your life.

Jail log lists all people charged with offenses through the county jail in Cameron. Charges may change during the process. Persons are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.   • Niels Hunt Beery, 68, Rockdale, criminal trespass, released on $1,000 bond.

Rockdale PD makes felony arrest, responds to four traffic accidents

Rockdale Police Officers made one felony arrest during the past seven days: • Dalton Keith Hammond, 27, Lexington, was arrested by Sgt. Parker on a Milam County Sheriff’s Office warrant for the probation violation unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
