Paniagua wins Deputy of the Year for MCSO

Vision Rockdale receives $5,000 grant

Vision Historic Preservation Foundation (Vision Rockdale) hosted a tour of The 1895 City Hall for members of the Texas Historical Foundation (THF) Board of Directors. Earlier this year, Vision Rockdale was a recipient of a $5,000 grant from THF’s Michael Duda Historic Architectural Endowment.

CEFCO OPENING SOON

Milano’s new CEFCO will open at some point next week. No particular date has been set and there will most likely be a soft opening before the grand opening.

RCS closed Friday due to frigid weather

Rockdale Christian Services Food Pantry will be open on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12-noon, but will be closed on Friday due to the expected frigid temperatures. RCS will make up for this missed day by being open on Friday, Dec. 30.

Once again, Tim and Glenda Guthrie, at 703 Vogel St., took home the top honors and bragging rights in the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce’s annual Christmas decorating contest which was judged on Sunday night.

Two arrested on felony warrants

Rockdale Police Officers made two felony arrests during the past week including: • Humberto DeLeon Jr., 32, Rockdale, was arrested on Friday by Ofc. Corey Puente for evading arrest detention with vehicle.   • Clifford Stanley, 32, Oregon, was arrested by Ofc.

Rockdale VFD Responded to: • 505 San Jacinto along with AMR for a structure fire on Wednesday.   • Veterans Park for a teenager stuck in a baby swing on Sunday. Milano VFD Responded to: • US 79 at South TX 36 for an 18-wheeler that lost its load on Friday.   • CR 343 for a grass fire on Sunday.
