The Milam County Grand Jury determined that Deputy Samuel Ferguson, IV, was justified in using deadly force in his self-defense in the October 19th, 2022, shooting which resulted in the death of an individual who Ferguson was attempting to take into custody pursuant to a mental health warrant.

Milam deputy shot at during routine stop, subject in custody

On Dec. 8, at approximately 2:20 a.m., Milam County Deputy Keith Beasley attempted a routine traffic stop, south of Thorndale near Griffith Lane. Immediately, Deputy Beasley’s patrol vehicle was fired upon from inside the violator’s vehicle.

Milam Judge Young honored on Monday

Milam County Judge Steve Young got a surprise at the end of Monday’s Commissioners Court meeting. Unbeknownst to him, several people wanted to honor him for the work he has done for Milam County with a standing- room-only turnout of supporters, family and friends.
