At Monday night’s city council meeting the council members heard a recommendation from La Vera Wade to rename East Third Street to Gertharine Green Street in honor of Gertharine Green who, Reporter readers may remember, celebrated her 104th birthday last April with a big parade.

New foundation to raise money for RISD

A group of community leaders have come together to form a foundation to support Rockdale ISD public schools. The Rockdale ISD Education Foundation (RISDEF) has announced their focus to enhance community support and to expand resources for the district.

Manhunt ends in arrest

A manhunt on Friday night ended with the subject captured early on Saturday morning. The subject, Christian Devaughn Rayford, was caught by MCSO Deputy Dillan Ford early Saturday mor ning when he stepped in front of Ford’s car on CR 302.

‘Secure lockout’ Tuesday

Tuesday at Rockdale Junior High, a student air-dropped an image of a threat to several other students’ phones. Those students shared the message with campus administrators who in turn contacted district administration.

American Legion turkey shoot Oct. 30

The American Legion Carlyle Post 358 will hold its annual turkey shoot at 12-noon Sunday, Oct. 30. Food and drinks start at 11 a.m. There will be 12-gauge with a maximum barrel length of 32 inches including choke. Ammunition will be provided. No super full or extra full chokes.
