CASA EFFORTS (ROCKDALE) The mission to bring court advocates for children in Milam County continues. A steering committee meeting to bring CASA or Court Appointed Special Advocates last week drew 22 people. It is not too late to join in this effort.

Online threat to Cameron ISD foiled by law enforcement

On Sept. 30, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) received a tip from a person who had knowledge of an online threat to cause harm to Cameron ISD. The tip was referred to the Milam County Sheriff’s Office for investigation.

MFVD pancake supper Saturday

The Minerva Volunteer Fire Department will hold a pancake supper and silent auction fundraiser from 4 to 8 p.m. Oct. 8. Plates are $10. For more information, contact any Minerva Volunteer Firefighter or Chief Ernie Glenn at 512-3650075. Crystal Denman is in charge of the silent auction.

Deanvlle VFD fundraiser Sunday

The Deanville Volunteer Fire Department will hold their annual fundraiser on Sunday with a meal beginning at 11 a.m. The meal includes fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, noodles, dessert and tea. Barbecue by the pound w ill also be available starting at 7 a.m.

Milam Historical Commission to host First Friday Coffee The Milam County Historical Commission is hosting the First Friday Coffee at the Lucy Hill Memorial Library on Oct. 7. The coffee will start at 9 a.m.
