Minerva Center meeting Sept. 15

The Minerva Community Center will hold its annual meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15. Everyone in the community is invited to attend. Some of the agenda topics will include building upkeep, building use and rental, the Minerva Homecoming and the election of a new trustee.

Marek annual picnic slated for Sunday

The Marek Community will host their annual Homecoming Picnic on Sunday at Saints Cyril & Methodius Church, located on FM 2269, seven miles northwest of Cameron. Mass begins at 10:30 a.m. with games and a drawing following at 11:30. Food service begins at 11 a.m.

The massive old pecan tree at the Rockdale Post Office didn’t survive the winter of 2021 and had started to become dangerous with large limbs dropping daily. Johnny Beran and his crew made quick work of taking the tree down on Thursday.

Meadowbrook Baptist to host Hospitality Day
