Backyard Market to host pet adoption, pet show Saturday

Rockdale Backyard Farmers Market will hold a pet adoption day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, featuring animals from Rockdale Animal Shelter, Charlyne’s Pound Puppies and Milam Touch of Love. There will also be a Pet Show from 1 to 2 p.m. Bring your pet and enter the contest.

Whitmore father and son together again

Rober t Whitmore’s memorial service was held here on Saturday with a procession of over 30 fire trucks from all over Texas, just as was done for his father, Earl Whitmore, five years earlier. Robert died on Aug. 16 and his father on Aug. 22, 2017, just seven days apart. Robert was born on Nov.

Master Gardeners hosting free tree clinic at Bea’s Kitchen September 21st

The Little River Basin Master Gardeners (Milam County) will host a free public event at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21. The topic presented by two master gardeners will be “Look Into Your Trees.” The program will be held at the former Bea’s Kitchen located at 101 E. Main St. in Cameron.

Apache Pass cook off, car show Sept. 16-17

Apache Pass will hold their third annual cookoff and car show on Sept. 16-17 and will have retail vendors, food and drink vendors and giveaways. Live music acts will be Kenny Orts and Wynn Williams. There will also be a Kid Zone with inflatables.

Meadowbrook Baptist to host Hospitality Day

Meadowbrook Baptist will host their Hospitality Day from 8 a.m. to 12-noon Saturday, Sept. 10, in the fellowship hall. Hospitality Day is like a garage sale except everything is free. If there is a family in need of anything, please text 512-760-0166 and they will try to accommodate that need.

Garage sales set Saturday and before

The first Saturday in September is Rockdale’s annual citywide garage sale. While Saturday is the big day, a number of garage sales will start early on Friday and a few on Thursday. About two dozen garage sales are expected. See ad on page 2A.
