Thorndale Town & Country Club meeting The Thorndale Town & Country Club met at the Conoley Community home of Betty and Susan Atkins. Eight club members were present. Games of Tenzi were played with winners receiving a fall décor wall plaque and a hand-made crochet hot mat made by Betty Atkins.

Austin top nursing exec at Barnes-Jewish

Rockdale native Tommye Cashaw Austin is going places—St. Louis, Missouri, to be exact. The 1982 RHS graduate will take on a new role at Barnes-Jewi sh Hospi tal as Senior Vice President of Patient Care Systems and Chief Nursing Executive reporting directly to the CEO effective Oct. 3.

Clean-up day set for Sept. 10

Rockdale Earth Day is holding a fall clean-up day on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a free movie, Monkey Kingdom, following at The Kay. Volunteers are asked to meet at the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department.

Marek annual picnic slated September 11

The Marek Community will host their annual Homecoming Picnic on Sunday, Sept. 11, at Saints Cyril & Methodius Church located on FM 2269, seven miles northwest of Cameron. Mass begins at 10:30 a.m. with games and a drawing following at 11:30. Food service begins at 11 a.m.

Genealogical society meets August 23rd
