Monday evening COVID report

Today we report 128 new cases and 168 discharged cases leaving us with 316 confirmed active cases in Milam County.  This is down 50 cases from our high of 365 last week.  Five individuals were hospitalized and seven were discharged.  We have no new deaths to report.

TODAY'S COVID REPORT

Today we have 94 new cases to report and 67 cases to discharge, leaving 365 active confirmed cases in Milam County.  This is another new record number of case and the fourth record we have set this month!  Four individuals were hospitalized, which brings the total to thirteen.

Our downtown saga continues

The concrete in the 100 block of Cameron Avenue that was recently poured is being torn up today by Big Creek Construction, the company hired by TxDOT to do the work. The operator of the jackhammer equipment said the concrete was poured too high and has to be redone.

Human remains found

On Jan. 11, 2022, Milam County Deputies responded to 1994 US 77 in Cameron on a report of possible human remains found in an abandoned house. Deputies arrived and searched the residence, locating the reported remains. The landowner(s) were notified and a search of the property was conducted.

Wednesday night COVID report

Today, we have 19 new cases to report and 28 cases were discharged, leaving 338 confirmed, active cases in Milam County.  Four individuals were hospitalized and four of the ten hospitalized are on ventilators.  No new deaths to report.

Another COVID death; total 93

One death and 170 new cases bring the total to 347 confirmed, active cases in Milam County, another record high. On Tuesday 136 people were tested in Rockdale with 1 positive results. The next testing is Thursday at the Cameron Fire Department starting at 9 a.m.

New schedule proposed at RISD

Rockdale ISD administrators are considering an alternative schedule for the 2022-2023 school year. The district has realized the need to provide more intensive intervention to those students struggling while also providing opportunities for more enrichment.

STARR BENEFIT BIG SUCCESS—On Saturday morning a benefit for the Charles and Rose Starr family drew a huge turnout and completely sold out of pulled pork sandwiches and baked goods in two hours. Over 240 sandwich meals were sold, and all of the donated baked goods were gone by 11:30 a.m.
