Milam COVID numbers moving in the right direction 2-2-22

We have 12 new cases to report and 26 cases to discharge, leaving 148 confirmed, active cases in Milam County.  One person was hospitalized and one person was discharged.  We have no new deaths to report.

City Offices to Close on Thursday due to weather

Due to potential freezing weather conditions, City offices will be closed on Thursday, February 3, 2022. Offices will reopen on Friday, February 4th at 10 AM. If you need immediate assistance, contact the Police Department at 512-446-3436.

LOST LOAD IN FRONT OF THE POST OFFICE 2-1-22

A tractor trailer lost its load directly in front of the post office this moring about 8 a.m. This will probably take a while to clean up so avoid the area if possible.

January 27 COVID Report

Today we report 42 new cases, 68 discharged cases leaving us with 286 confirmed, active cases in the County.  There were no new hospital admissions and new no deaths.  There is no doubt the numbers are coming down.

January 27 is Holocaust Remembrance Day

The United Nations General Assembly designated January 27—the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau—as International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Vote By Mail changes for this year

Signed into law by Gov. Greg Abbott in September, Voter Law Senate Bill 1 requires regular mailin voters to submit a new request each year, the applicant can check mark Annual Ballot and receive a ballot for each election for that year.

Little River Master Gardener classes Feb. 2nd

The Little River Basin Master Gardeners of Milam County are offering Master Gardener classes starting Feb. 2 every Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cameron Chamber of Commerce. The fee for the class is $175.

DOWNTOWN DÉJÀ VU—Concrete work that was poured in the 100 block of East Cameron Avenue a few months ago was being torn up and re-poured last week due to it being set up at the wrong grade by Big Creek Construction, the company hired by TxDOT to build Rockdale’s downtown project.

At Monday’s commissioners court the commissioners voted to leave Milam County’s burn ban in place for an undetermined amount of time.
