MVFD holds fundraiser for Whitmore Nov. 7th The Milano Volunteer Fire Department will hold a benefit for Second Assistant Chief Robert Whitmore on Sunday, Nov. 7, at 11:30 a.m. All proceeds will go towards his medical expenses and treatments.

Can you believe this is November already? Those that do holiday meal planning and cooking are busy getting everything in order by this time. I’m so thankful for my family that does all of this. All school students and teachers are probably counting the days until they have a few days off.

Delicious Thanksgiving sides

It is officially November so we can finally start talking about Thanksgiving, my favorite holiday. This recipe combines two of my favorite things, macaroni & cheese and French onion soup. What could be better? I could see this as a side on Thanksgiving. This calls for a little wine.

Trunk or Treat at Tiger Stadium

Treats! Rockdale High School held a very successful and well-attended Trunk or Treat Halloween celebration at the Tiger Football Field parking lot on Sunday at 5 p.m.

Homemade pumpkin pie

Pumpkin is our ingredient of the week. And right in time for Thanksgiving. Selection: Look for a deep orange color, but some pumpkins can be green. The skin and stem should be hard. Give the pumpkin a good thump, if it’s hollow…. it’s ripe.

4-H Holiday Gift Idea Exchange event planned for November 16

Milam County 4-H’ers from kindergartners to seniors from all over Milam County will show off their baking and arts and crafts skills at the annual 4-H Holiday Gift Idea Exchange at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, at First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Cameron.

Homecoming Parade

The Rockdale Tiger Booster Club held the 2021 Homecoming Parade and city-wide pep rally which was sponsored by the good folks at Alpha One Chevrolet Buick. The parade was held at 6:30 p.m. last Wednesday.

Milam County death toll rises to 83

Again, I am saddened to report another COVID-19 related death in Milam County. This brings our death toll in the County to 83 individuals. Vaccinations prevent death and serious illness and thus we continue to urge vaccinations.
