FIRE CALLS

• The Rockdale VFD responded to two fires over the past week. On Tuesday they responded to a structure fire which was vacant. On Wednesday they responded to South US 77 for a truck hauling cattle which had a ruptured fuel tank.

Sunflower Fun Run/Walk set for Saturday

The Melodie Hope Jones Memorial Scholarship “Sunflower Fun Run/ Walk” will be held Saturday at Davidson Creek Park in Caldwell. There is a kids’ one-mile color run at 9 a.m. and the 5K starts at 9:30 a.m. Cost is $30 for the 5K and $25 for the kids run.

Sherri and James Rasco are in Virginia awaiting the birth of another grandchild. Parents are Erica and Jason Starnes. This will be their third child and will be Sherri and James 12th grandchild. Gause Volunteer Fire Department thanks everyone who came out and supported the fish fry.

City crews are working to repair a water main break at the corner of N Main & Cameron. Water customers in the downtown area may have low to no water pressure today (09/22/2021) until repairs are completed.

Milam County has 68th COVID death

Tonight, I regret to advise of our 68th COVID-19 related death. Sadly, I know there are more to come. None of those who died have been fully vaccinated. Please encourage vaccinations. We also have 18 new cases to report and five individuals were hospitalized.

Disruption of Service for Fire Hydrant Removal

Due to fire hydrant removal, customers from East Cameron Avenue to East Belton (between Pear and Houston) may have low to no pressure on Monday from 9 a.m. until approximately 6 p.m.

Another COVID death brings our total to 67
