Milam County reports its 73 COVID death

Ladies & Gentlemen:  Tonight we report our 73rd Milam County resident who has died due to COVID-19.  Please encourage vaccinations.  We have 7 new cases to report and we discharged 9 cases, leaving us with 32 confirmed cases in Milam County.

Rockdale Christian Services Food Pantry October openings

The food pantry will be open on these days and hours in October: Oct. 14-15 (Thursday and Friday) Oct. 28-29 (Thursday and Friday) Hours:10 a.m. to 12-noon  Commodity boxes will be available anytime we are open.

Meadowbook Baptist hosts night of fun

Meadowbrook Baptist Church will host Christian Comedian, Trevor Thomas for a night of entertainment on Wednesday, Oct. 6             Trevor has been touring American as an actor and entertainer for three decades. He has worked professionally in theater, commercials, television and films.

Chick-fil-A food truck rescheduled The Rockdale Municipal Development District announced that the Chick-fil-A food truck that was scheduled to be here in August, is now rescheduled for Saturday. “Please stop by Downtown Rockdale in the MDD parking lot on Main Street from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Busy day at Rockdale’s airport

RUSH HOUR—About 12 planes flew into the H.H. Coffield Municipal Airport last Thursday, and that’s probably the busiest it’s been in a long time. The pilots are a group of airplane enthusiasts from all over Texas who fly to a different location once or twice a week.

Commissioners discuss growth

At commissioners court Monday morning County Judge Steve Young started things off with an update on Project Saratoga, which is the name for bringing the American Statesman Glove Co. to the Alcoa property.

2021 Fair updates

The 46th annual Rockdale Fair and Rodeo will get underway Oct. 9 through 16, and the first events are the children’s pageant and Miss Rockdale Fair Pageant which will be held in the RHS auditorium. There will be a rodeo nightly starting at 8 p.m.
