Sex offender captured in Stephenville

Joseph Darwin Watson of Hamilton but reported to have Rockdale ties, was captured Aug. 18 in Stephenville. Watson, 52, was arrested by Stephenville police. Working off investigative information, they located and arrested Watson at an apartment complex.

Retirement celebration for Dr. D.L. Brooks Sr. New Jerusalem Inter-Denominational Church will hold a celebration for retiring pastor Dr. D. L. Brooks Sr. on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 9-10, at the church. Dr. Brooks has served the church for 41 years.

Another one of those weeks that now much is happening. It is a nice Monday morning, but with it being August, I’m sure I’ll be complaining about being too hot. I see several people doing outside “things” that they need to get done. Probably by 1 p.m.

SUNFLOWER FUN RUN/WALK—The Melodie Hope Jones Memorial Scholarship “Sunflower Fun Run/Walk” will be held Sept. 25 at Davidson Creek Park in Caldwell. There is a kids’ one-mile color run at 9 a.m. and the 5K starts at 9:30 a.m. Cost is $30 for the 5K and $25 for the kids run.
